One of the most beautiful styles identified in International Floral Distributors annual trend forecast - at least to us here at Port Charlotte Florist - is what IFD is calling "Positively Posh." It's a lavish, romantic style that shows just a bit of modern restraint. These designs are whimsical, playful and youthful - never uptight. When you see it, you'll know what we mean. Blooms presented in this manner inspire a dreamy, wistful feeling. Read More about 2018’s Pretty Floral Predictions »

We here at Port Charlotte Florist are loving our Holiday Gift Guide, and we know you will too!
Winter's blooms are gorgeous this time of year, worked into magical designs that utilize the season's natural accents (think pine cones and bare branches) as well as some of its most glittery decor. Designs can be embellished to the hilt, presenting as lush bouquets in a range of textures, or simple and sweet, evoking the clean serenity of freshly- fallen snow. We've got them all in our guide, but want to tease two of our faves in this week's blog. Read More about Spotlight On Our Holiday Gift Guide »

This past Black Friday, a man walked into a Toys "R" Us and purchased 62 items on layaway, spending more than $10,000 to help strangers have a great holiday. He then upped the ante, buying $2,000 worth of items for Toys For Tots. After his incredible - and anonymous - act of charity, the press referred to him as the ultimate Secret Santa.
It was a 20th century philanthropist who pulled off a similar act (distributing $100 bills in the Kansas City streets) that pioneered Secret Santa as we know it today in the U.S. Since then, we've adopted the practice as a way to exchange gifts in the workplace or with friends. It's that cloak of anonymity that makes the gift-giving so fun, and we here at Port Charlotte Florist know a thing or two about giving gifts. We're all different in how we approach Thanksgiving; for some of us, it's a formal affair, filled with heirloom linens and china, soft candlelight and everyone dressed up. For others, it's a casual potluck on the back patio followed by football in the backyard or a walk on the beach. And then there's the rest of us, who fall somewhere in between!
At Port Charlotte Florist, we've got centerpieces for the Thanksgiving table that will work for everyone. With just a little time and consideration, you can find the perfect one for your dinner. Read More about Centerpieces for Every Thanksgiving »

If you're dining at someone else's Thanksgiving table this year, it calls for a hostess gift.
A host or hostess gift is a traditional gesture of gratitude, and even in these post-Emily Post days, people still routinely offer them. Right at the top of the list of acceptable host gifts, you'll find flowers. Which makes sense - they breathe life into a home, bringing in warmth, vibrancy and often a really nice scent. Also at the top of the list: gift baskets. What's better than getting a bundle of goodies on your doorstep? Lucky for you, we at Port Charlotte Florist know a thing or two about both of these gift-worthy items. Read More about Holiday Hosts Deserve Great Gifts »

Our community is steeped in heroes, and on November 11, we honor them. Specifically, we commemorate those veterans who served their country in the U.S. military, defending and protecting the rest of us. But beyond the parades, parties and observances, as well as the informal gatherings with friends and family, we may want to make a personal gesture.
It can be hard to know exactly what to get our favorite veteran, but at Port Charlotte Florist, we have some ideas in mind that speak to the uniqueness of the occasion. Read More about Enduring Floral Gifts for Veterans Day »

Fall's mums are here to stay, and given how pretty they are, you'll never want them to leave. It's that time of year to give your front steps and entryway a refresh, re-potting plants, setting out pumpkins, and switching out your summer wreath for something a little more seasonal. We have to do all we can here in the subtropics to make Fall feel like Fall, but the season's beloved flowering plant goes a long way to helping us achieve that spirit. At Port Charlotte Florist, we're happy to help match you up with a mum. Read More about Make Way for Mums »
