One of the most beautiful styles identified in International Floral Distributors annual trend forecast – at least to us here at Port Charlotte Florist – is what IFD is calling “Positively Posh.” It’s a lavish, romantic style that shows just a bit of modern restraint. These designs are whimsical, playful and youthful – never uptight. When you see it, you’ll know what we mean. Blooms presented in this manner inspire a dreamy, wistful feeling.
One of the key features of this trend is the use of petals in pastel hues (think pale grays and pinks), which is a continuation of the trend toward more muted flowers. And yet here a pop of violet or crimson will often be invited in to add some contrast. Another characteristic of this approach is that it should look layered. The idea is that each petal delicately unfolds into the next, creating a kind of ruffled effect. You can see this nicely demonstrated in our Beautiful Garden design.
This graceful, pretty arrangement looks like it could appear in the pages of Vogue, and yet remains accessible and could do just as well on your table. This style often pairs its florals with lavish fabrics (note our ribbon) to add to the overall impact. Soft, romantic and upbeat, “Positively Posh” is a design approach that we at Port Charlotte Florist are fully embracing.
