Memorial Day In Flowers

Across the country, Americans will gather with their families, friends or others to celebrate Memorial Day on Monday, May 28th. The holiday is widely regarded as the “unofficial” start of the summer season, and festivities may include activities like boating, barbecuing, or having picnics at the beach. The National Holiday Act of 1971 made Memorial Day a legal federal holiday. The Port Charlotte Floristteam wants to encourage you to incorporate patriotic-colored flowers into your Memorial Day festivities. Read More about Memorial Day In Flowers »

Holiday Hosts Deserve Great Gifts

If you're dining at someone else's Thanksgiving table this year, it calls for a hostess gift. A host or hostess gift is a traditional gesture of gratitude, and even in these post-Emily Post days, people still routinely offer them. Right at the top of the list of acceptable host gifts, you'll find flowers. Which makes sense - they breathe life into a home, bringing in warmth, vibrancy and often a really nice scent. Also at the top of the list: gift baskets. What's better than getting a bundle of goodies on your doorstep? Lucky for you, we at Port Charlotte Florist know a thing or two about both of these gift-worthy items. Read More about Holiday Hosts Deserve Great Gifts »

Patriotic Arrangements & Flowers

There are few days more symbolic and special on our calendar than Memorial Day, celebrated this year on May 29. Port Charlotte Florist -is both privileged and honored to assist in your selection of the Memorial Day flowers and patriotic arrangements that will convey your sentiments. History Lesson: Memorial Day was originally named 'Decoration Day' ,  as it was a day set aside for loved ones to decorate the graves of the fallen from the Civil War. The name was changed after World War I as the day grew to include recognition for heroes of all wars. The day was made an official U.S. holiday in 1971. Unlike Veteran;s Day, which honors living veterans, Memorial Day is specifically for remembering those who have died.  Read More about Patriotic Arrangements & Flowers »
