Did You Know? The Declaration of Independence was only signed by two founding fathers on July 4. The rest of the signatures were not obtained until August 2. Although the Patriots declared that July 4, 1776, was the first Independence Day, it took several years for the general population to catch on and for celebrations to take place.

The Annual 4th of July Celebration at Fisherman’s Village is back! The celebration begins with the Freedom Swim on Charlotte Harbor, and all day activities include live music and dancing, kids’ crafts, treats and face painting, and Hula Hoop contests. The fireworks display over Charlotte Harbor begins at 9:00 pm.
