International Women’s Day, observed on March 8th, is a global information initiative intended to bring awareness to the presence of gender disparity worldwide. The campaign highlights the significant progress achieved by efforts thus far, puts forth a plan of action; and honors the pioneering efforts of everyday women who have had historic impact in their spheres of influence.
Although the day has been celebrated for over a century; it gained momentum after the United Nations backed the efforts of participating countries.
